The Pruning Process

Every branch in Me that that does NOT bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit (John 15:2).

There is a time for planting and a time for pruning.  Perhaps God is at work in our life today, taking away Branches that do not belong and pruning ones that do. What kind of things does God take away?  Things that have served their purpose.  Things that have refused to change.  Things that will give you trouble latter on.  Things that are standing in the way of greater fruitfulness. Things that are holding you back. Things He has not chosen for you.

Have you ever seen a newly pruned tree?  Doesn’t look too good does it?  And when God starts to cut back certain things in our lives in order to redirect our energies, we do not look too good either.  Sometimes this means:
a) having fewer things for a while;
b) letting go of things we always thought would be there;
c) being unable to explain to others why we are even going through the pruning process.

God knows what needs to be cut back in our life; He also knows what needs to be cut off. Trust Him. Even though you cannot understand what he is doing, just pray:

Lord if I needed it You would let me keep it,
So I open my hand to You.
Because Your approval is my reward,
And Your purpose is my reason to live.
