"Twelve Steps"
Following on from Keith Woods’ inspirational message last week, I thought I would reiterate both the eight steps he articulated and recommended we both adopt into our own lives together with advocating how they should be included in the educational process for our youth coming through today with the ever increasing social problems & implications we see within society.
I have included the other four also from his reference within the Alcoholics Anonymous programe. - We admitted we were powerless & that our lives had become unmanageable - Came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity - Made a decision to turn our will & our lives over to the care of God (as we understand Him) - Made a searching & fearless moral inventory of ourselves - Admitted to God, to ourselves, & to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs - Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character - Humbly asked him to remove our shortcomings - Continued to take personal inventory & when we were wrong promptly admitted it Those are the first seven steps + step 10 Keith covered. I thought it appropriate in the space provided to also mention the remaining 8, 9, 11 & 12.
- Made a list of all the persons we had harmed, & became willing to make amends to them all. Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us.
- Sought through prayer & meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, praying only for knowledge of His will for us & the power to carry that out |
